Nine robbers were arrested in Sharjah after a tyre of their vehicle loaded with stolen items got stuck in sand, a court has heard. The defendants allegedly assaulted a security guard before stealing building materials from a company in the Sharjah industrial area. They were trying to escape when their vehicle got stuck in the sand due to its weight.
They left the vehicle at the site and fled.
The robbery was reported on March 21. The police rushed the guard to a city hospital and began their investigation. They tracked and arrested the defendants within a few days.
According to court documents, the defendants confessed to the crime during police and public prosecution investigations.
During the hearing on Sunday, the defendants pleaded not guilty. The case has been adjourned till December 12.
