The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) has inaugurated its first water emergency centre (WEC) in Al Rahmaniya area.
Dr Rashid Al Leem, Chairman of Sewa, said the new water emergency centre will function 24/7 to respond to all water fault issues in the city. Equipping it with all advanced communication tools to ensure better communication with the public, Sewa also has well-trained and qualified staff in place to receive calls and forward it to emergency teams of engineer and technicians.
The WEC has been launched under instruction of His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, to ensure that the city's residents get the best services based on international standards, and also prevent water wastage. The centre has been established based on several studies conducted in cooperation with universities and researches centres.
Sewa will continue to execute its strategical development in coordination with the concerned department and international and local companies.
Dr Al Leem, pointed out the Al Rahmaniya area has been selected for the WEC project due to its accessible location, close to schools and the universities area., making it easy to meet resident's demands. Calls on water faults will immediately be forwarded to the emergency team who will first examine the water plants and determine the location of the fault to address it in the shortest time possible.
