A massive fire, that broke out on Saturday in a warehouse complex located in Sharjah's Industrial Area 3, destroyed seven warehouses out of the 42 in the complex.
The fire initially started in one of the warehouses, containing petroleum material, which then extended to nearby warehouses, containing inflammable items including plastic, wood, glass and aluminium materials, which further intensified the blaze.
No causalities have been reported.
Col. Majid Al Suwaidi, Deputy Director Of Shajrjah Civil Defense, said that fire fighters from Samanan, Muwailih, Sajjah and Al Hamriya  rushed to the site of the incident after receiving a call during the day time.
The teams managed to control the fire and prevent it from extending to other warehouses.
He added that a police patrol cordoned off the area to facilitate the work of civil defense.
Col. Al Suwaidi further said that the site will be handed over to the police after the cooling operation, after which an investigation will be launched to determine the cause of the fire and accurately assess the extent of loss.
