A fire broke out in a plant nursery near Souq Al Jubail in Sharjah on Monday, gutting contents of many nurseries.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, a top official at the Sharjah Civil Defence said that they received a call at 8.02am at the operation room about the fire. The fire started in one of the nurseries, but due to strong winds, it spread fast to the neighbouring ones. The fire gutted the plants, and plastic and wooden materials stored in the nurseries, but no causalities have been reported.
The fire was controlled in 30 minutes and the team managed to prevent it from spreading to another part of the nurseries' complex. The cooling operation was completed by 1pm and the site has been handed over to fire experts at the Sharjah Police Forensic Department.
The official urged the commercial outlets to use extinguishers to put out the fire to prevent it from spreading. He called on all open commercial outlets to ensure fire safety and instal all fire equipment.
