Committed to helping vulnerable segments of the society, Dar Al Ber Society (Dabs) has provided community services, worth Dh46 million in 2017.
"As many as to 99,695 indigent and low-income people benefited from these," said Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, executive director of Dabs. Mohammed ?Suhail, head of the community service sector, said the services supplied included cash and in-kind allowances, treatment and study fees, outstanding utility bills and rents. "These are apart from support to government entities and seasonal projects."
Hisham Al Zahrani, deputy head of the sector, said the beneficiary cases included 334 Emirati nationals, 2,045 Arabs, 1,249 Asians, 314 Africans, and 31 from other nationalities. "The community services were provided in all emirates of the country."
Dar Al Ber further launched many seasonal charity projects last year to meet the basic needs of low-income people, mainly the Iftar meal project, he added. "These also included the Zakat Al Fitr scheme which covered 19,318 poor people, Eid Al Fitr clothing availed by 127 cases against 79 in Eid Al Adha." Up to 1,550 people benefited from the Adahi or sacrificial livestock project, he stated. "The other seasonal projects included the school bag and summer scheme which secured air-conditioners and fridges needed for 86 cases." The society, based in Dubai, further helped 742 poor people perform Umrah last year. "We also provided food and in-kind items to 45,496 people."
