More than 3 million people benefited from a range of initiatives launched by the Dubai Police during the Year of Giving.
Major General Mohammed Ahmed Bin Fahd, assistant commander-in-chief of academic affairs and training, Head of the Year of Giving Initiatives Team of the Dubai Police, revealed 3,006,916 people benefited from humanitarian initiatives and events organized by the Dubai Police. These have also brought safety, security and happiness to the people.
This was announced during a press conference organized by the Dubai Police Academy at the Academy Officers' Club, in the presence of officers, individuals and teams who participated in the Year of Giving initiatives.
Bin Fahad stressed that the Year of Giving is only the culmination of all the humanitarian work that the UAE has done for those who reside on its land and for the people of the world.
He added that the Dubai Police, under the direction of its commander-in-chief, launched 109 initiatives and events during the Year of Giving. As many as 1,244 people volunteered for the implementation the initiatives, putting in a total of 10,593 volunteer hours. He added that the activities and initiatives ranged from social, awareness, environmental, security, national, to health and economic aspects, all of which were aimed to nurture the young generation and boost their sense and belief in tolerance and love.
He added that the UAE is one of the leading countries in humanitarian projects and charitable initiatives, and it extends its helping hand at home and abroad to alleviate the suffering and pain of millions of people in the world.
He pointed out that the Dubai Police have taken up the social responsibility of giving importance to community participation and security, while inculcating noble values.
Bin Fahad said that the initiatives and charitable activities carried out by the Dubai Police have brought about a qualitative and influential leap in the lives of many, stressing that they do not hesitate for a moment to make a strong effort to contribute to the developmental of the country. He added that charitable activities included creative ideas such as 'Eid Basket' initiative that was meant to provide baskets of fruit for needy families. There was also an initiative to donate used miscellaneous items from blankets, bed sheets and shoes to old furniture. He added that other initiatives included organising an exhibition for families-made products and the Eid al-Khair initiative.
Besides, the 'Good Reading' initiative aimed at inviting target groups from all sections of the society - especially young people, experts and researchers - to read in both Arabic and English. A sum of Dh10 was allocated for each book read by the reader. The reader was then invited to participate in a charity education programmes in the UAE and abroad.
The initiative 'Dubai Police Boulevard' had an exhibition that included awareness and educational platforms for children and their families, food, gifts and prizes, free medical examinations, camel shows as well as display of the Dubai Police cars, and a offering a close look at the sniffer dogs.
