Motorists in Ajman can now pay for their public parking space through SMS, as the mParking service came into effect from Thursday onwards, Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, director of Ajman Municipality, said.
Speaking to reporters, he said that the system is being implemented in many emirates and aims at simplifying payment for parking. Motorist can send the parking message (their number plate number and area code) to the number 5155 for parking in all areas of Ajman.

Humaid Al Falasi, director of parking department, explained that the SMS should be sent in the following format: Plate number, leave a space and then type in the area code. The customer will receive a confirmation message which includes the virtual permit details, and a reminder message will be sent to the customer 10 minutes before the permit expires.
For extending for another hour, the customer should send "Y" to 5155. "This service is available to all etisalat and du customers, and the parking fee will be added to their phone bill," he said.

Al Falasi added that the parking machines will remain available in all its location, but this is an additional service to make the payment easy for motorists. "The launch of the mParking in the emirate of Ajman is part of the municipality's keenness on using the advanced and smart technology to provide the public with the municipal services in the easiest and most comfortable way.
