Marking the occasion of the country's Independence Day, the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), in collaboration with the embassy, launched its Junior Brick for Pakistan Medical Centre initiative on Tuesday evening.
The initiative was launched by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance who was the chief guest at the event, held at the Pakistan Auditorium in Oud Metha. The event also saw a number of Emiratis, Pakistanis and others being honoured for their service to society. Addressing a gathering of about 500 people, Sheikh Nahyan said: "This is an extraordinary moment because of the election of new leaders that kindles hope for future, more stability and rule of law.

"You, people of Pakistan, have to enhance the global population of the UAE with your skills, creativity, your sound values and your ability to succeed in a global economy. You have shared and contributed to the prosperity and well-being and our country and the UAE grateful to you and your Pakistani predecessors. Our friendship is here to stay."
Calling Pakistan his second home, Sheikh Nahyan said there are values that unite people of both the countries.
A number of diplomats including Pakistan's Ambassador to the UAE Moazzam Ahmad Khan and senior dignitaries from various government departments were also present.
The event saw a number of Pakistan Day awards given out to a number of dignitaries for their pivotal role in community service. Among the awardees were Suhail Galadari, Director of Galadari Brothers LLC; Omar Al Muthanna, CEO of the Social Regulatory and Licensing Agency of the Community Development Authority (CDA); Ayesha Imtiyaz of Poetic strokes; and Nighat Aftab of Medical Wing of the PAD.
