The Malaysian Pavilion showcased an extensive portfolio of medical products and healthcare solutions at Arab Health 2020, one of the UAE's largest healthcare events in the Middle East and North Asia (Mena) region that attracts visitors from all over the world.

Participating for the 16th time at the annual Arab Health exhibition, companies at the Malaysian base were armed with a mission to expand its customer base and address their needs. This year, organisations enjoyed a notable presence as part of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), the National Trade Promotion Agency of Malaysia, which set out to bring the best of the country's offerings in anticipation for the upcoming Expo 2020 Dubai. "When we talk about Malaysian lifestyle, we mean to display Malaysian culture, fashion, and attitude. We want to show the best of Malaysia, as well as our products and opportunities. Expo 2020 will be an exciting base for this, as there will be more than 100 countries present," said Naim Abdul Rahman, Director of MATRADE's Lifestyle and Life Sciences Section.

This year, 18 Malaysian companies were participating in Arab Health 2020 under Malaysian Pavilion to showcase their expertise. Among these was one of the world's largest producers of disposable medical gloves. Also at the venue were companies coordinated by the Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council.

"Arab Health is an iconic destination that we are not going to miss out on. The UAE stands as the prime location for focus on the healthcare industry, and in this regard, Arab Health provides one of the best platforms for business. Over the years, MATRADE has brought a lot of Malaysian healthcare and medical devices expertise, and will continue to bring more exclusive companies aligned with the UAE Vision 2021 to provide world-class healthcare. Thus, Malaysian companies are here to be part of the development of healthcare industry in this region," said Omar Mohd Salleh, Trade Commissioner of MATRADE in Dubai, UAE.

One of the participants, Rohaizan Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of Cworks Systems Berhad said, "We are expecting more visitors to come visit the booth to recognise our innovative ICT solution for hospital." Cworks is a globally proven preventive maintenance management software specialist.

According to another participant, Johari Abu Kasim, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Star Medik Group, one of nine companies in the world for producing a disposable prefilled bubble humidifier, said, "The purpose of our participation this year is not only to look for new customer but also to meet our current customers around this region."

From January to November 2019, Malaysia's total trade with UAE registered at $5.5 billion. On the same period, Malaysia's exports to West Asia region for medical devices stood at $122 million. Major medical device products exported includes rubber glove, needle, catheters, instruments and appliances.

With new and state-of-the-art technology at hand, Malaysian companies under MATRADE leadership are ready to enhance the healthcare industry and enable Malaysian companies to grow further in years to come.
