The Sharjah Sharia Court of First Instance has sentenced a man to three months in jail for forging his school certificate.
The accused, a Pakistani national identified as O.F., was sentenced in absentia on December 28, 2015 to three years in jail to be followed by deportation.
The suspect was charged by the court on May 24, 2015 for forging school certificates and putting stamps on them.
During the court hearing, he said that he sent the certificates to an agent in Pakistan to be attested and returned to him.
He said the agent forged the certificates and sent them to him, and that he only learned about the forgery after he received them.
He was arrested after handing over the certificates to someone to be approved by UAE authorities.
"I admit that I committed a mistake by sending someone to complete the procedures. I knew the certificates was forged and despite that I submitted. I regret what I did," he said in court.
The Sharjah Sharia Court of First Instance has also sentenced a suspect - I.A.M.- to four years in jail for using hashish.
During the court hearing, he denied the accusations, but a lab test uncovered traces of hashish in his urine.
A second suspect, a Pakistani national identified as J.K, was also sentenced to four years in jail for the same crime.
