A 19-year-old man has been charged at a Dubai court after he allegedly sexually harassed a sleeping woman at the reception of a building.
The jobless Pakistani man is accused of inappropriately touching the Filipina as she slept. He denied a sexual harassment charge at the Court of First Instance.
The incident, which allegedly took place on March 19, this year, was reported to Al Qusais police station.
The 38-year-old complainant, an accountant, said she was waiting at the reception for her friend in a building in Al Qusais industrial area. "It was around 3:30pm. I suddenly fell asleep on the couch. When I opened my eyes, I saw a man touching my thigh and abdomen."
He ran out as she screamed. "He came back few minutes later and gestured to me to walk to him. But I ignored him. I reported him to the police the next day because I was then shocked and confused about the incident."
She told the police she did not know for how long the accused kept touching her because her nap took about five to ten minutes and when she opened her eyes she found his hands on her. "He spoke to me in a language that I don't understand. When he came back later, he wanted to talk to me but I did not go to him."
She said she did not scream for help because no one was around.
