A man has lodged a case against his ex-wife after she called him "despicable" and "dirty" over the phone.
The Sharjah Misdemeanors Court heard the case filed by a young man - hailing from a GCC country - who claimed that his ex-wife insulted and abused him. The verbal commotion was triggered over their children.
The woman had left her two children with their father, as she wanted to be "free of all responsibilities". However, she was surprised when she found that her ex-husband had brought their kids to her parents' house.
She called up her ex-husband and asked him why he did so. The woman told him that she can't take care of the kids as she was working in Abu Dhabi. After this, a heated argument ensued between the two over the phone, during which the ex-wife called him "despicable" and "dirty".
The police officials and prosecutors confronted her with the charges levelled against her and she confessed to having used "bad words" over the phone.
The defendant was given time to reconcile with the complainant, as the man showed keenness to end the dispute before the public prosecution. He said that he would drop the case if she gave it in writing that she wouldn't repeat it again.
However, she refused to do so and the case was referred to the court.
The case has been adjourned.
