The Ajman criminal court has sentenced a 46-year-old Arab national to six months in jail for insulting Islam. The court also ordered his deportation after he serves his prison term.
According to the public prosecution investigation records, the accused, who worked for a private company in Ajman, went to a colleague's house. He wanted to persuade the complainant to drop a case the latter had filed with the labour ministry asking for his dues.
The complainant recorded the conversation, in which the defendant is heard insulting him and Islam, despite being a Muslim.
The testimonies were heard and the recording of the conversation proved that the accused was guilty for insulting Islam and humiliating the complainant.
