An Emirati man has been accused of locking up a Russian visitor in a deserted villa and assaulting her after failing to get her Facebook account password.
The Dubai Court of First Instance heard that the 30-year-old Emirati man slapped and kicked the 24-year-old visitor, breaking her finger and fracturing her hand. He then allegedly locked her in his deserted villa in Al Khawaneej, where she had been staying for about four months.
According to court records, the complainant decided to pay her overstaying fines and leave the country. She informed the accused of her flight details to get a lift to the airport. But she was "surprised" when he stormed into her room and "threw the mobile phone on my face", demanding to know her Facebook user name and password.
The complainant told prosecutors: "I told him I didn't remember my Facebook details, so he threw the phone again and it injured my face. He then slapped me and kicked me all over my body. I covered my face with my hand, so he kicked my hand until I could no longer move it."
The woman tried to escape, but the accused allegedly grabbed and assaulted her before he locked her up and left the house. The complainant tried to jump off the window and called the police when she failed to escape.
The police raided the house and took the complainant to the Rashid Hospital. The victim suffered major bruises on her legs, a broken finger and a fractured hand.
The accused called her when he saw the police patrol outside and requested her to make them leave. A police officer testified to prosecutors that the complainant was locked up in a small room.
