Steven Seagal added glitz to Idex 2021 in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. The American actor and martial artist unveiled the Storm, the first fully electric tracked vehicle manufactured in the UAE.
Seagal is the brand ambassador for STREIT, a Ras Al Khaimah-headquartered firm producing a wide range of armoured vehicles, including Storm — a first-of-its-kind hybrid, tracked and amphibious vehicle for the military’s special operations, medical evacuations and peacekeeping. It features the latest technologies in ballistic, IED and mine blast protection.
At a Press conference, Seagal said he believed in STREIT’s mission to save lives around the world. “One of the things we have been able to do is to provide people who don’t want war, when people are about to wage war on them, with such great protection that the aggressor thinks twice about coming.”
STREIT Group chairman Guerman Goutorov said Storm is fully electrical, multi-purpose, multi-terrain, operational in land and water with floating capabilities. “It can be used for a wide range of specialist military and civilian purposes. It speeds up to 140kmph on the ground and 30kmph in water. It will run for five hours on battery while on land. There is a generator, which can recharge the battery in 90 minutes,” added Goutorov.
On a lighter note, Seagal added: “The design of the Storm looks like a crossover between a Lamborghini and a stealth fighter, and is one of the head-turners at Idex.”
There were three more vehicles launched: Dhabi, a state-of-the-art mine resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicle; Nisr, a mounted infantry troop carrier and ground support vehicle, and Condor, a cost-effective MRAP.
