Commuters on 520 public buses plying in Abu Dhabi now have access to free WiFi connectivity, it was announced on Tuesday. The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) said it had completed the first phase of a project that will see free Internet offered in all public buses in the Capital.
The first phase included 520 buses - 410 in Abu Dhabi City and 110 in Al Ain City.
This is part of a project that was launched by the ITC in cooperation with Du to "improve the quality of its services and increase customers' satisfaction".
"The move is to improve transport services in Abu Dhabi and to encourage more people to use public transport," a top official at the ITC had told Khaleej Times when the project was rolled out in September last year.
The free Wifi service will also be available at bus shelters as well as the main bus stations across the emirate.
