Authorities in the UAE have warned that sharing false information about products can now lead to payment of huge fines and even temporary imprisonment.
Violators will be subject to fines of not less than Dh100,000 and not exceeding Dh500,000 or temporary imprisonment or either of the two, according to a tweet posted on the UAE Public Prosecution’s official handle.
“Whoever falsifies information on products that are imported or exported from the UAE or otherwise provide misleading information with the intent of fraud in the certificate of the origin or origin of goods will be liable for penalty. The penalty shall be double in case of recidivism” the tweet explained.
