An Emirati woman had a narrow escape after a truck overturned and crushed a part of her car. The incident was reported at the Yabsa roundabout in Fujairah on Saturday evening.
The woman and the truck driver sustained injuries that have been described as 'moderate' by the police.
The motorist was stuck inside the car as a result of the accident. "The rescue team that rushed to the spot managed to safely get the woman out of her car. Paramedics administered first-aid and rushed both of them to the nearest hospital," the police said.
Both drivers are said to be recuperating in a stable condition.
Brigadier Dr Ali Rashid Al Yamahi, director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, Fujairah Police, said: "The accident happened because of the truck driver's inattentiveness. He lost control over the wheel as he entered the roundabout and the truck overturned."
The police had to temporarily block the road to remove the damaged vehicles.
