As the UAE marks the first day of Eid Al Fitr today, leaders took to social media to send greetings to the country’s residents and Muslims across the world.
“Eid Mubarak to the people of the UAE and the rest of the Muslim world. May the days ahead bring us blessings, peace and prosperity. We ask Almighty Allah to bless us and accept our good work,” His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, wrote on his twitter account.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, also greeted heads of states, UAE leaders and the people of the country.
“We ask Almighty Allah to bless us during Eid Al Fitr and accept our good work”, Sheikh Mohammed said on his official Twitter account.
“Eid Mubarak to the UAE President and Vice-President, Rulers of the Emirates, and the UAE people. We pray that this blessed time brings peace, prosperity and happiness to the people of our nation, the region and the world,” he said.
While several Middle East nations have imposed lockdowns and cancelled Eid prayers in accordance with the Covid-19 situation, UAE residents expressed their gratitude to the country’s authorities for keeping Covid numbers low and allowing Eid prayers to be conducted in congregation.
Gearing to mark their third Eid in a row amid the raging pandemic, UAE residents pledged to mark the happy occasion safely, abiding by all the safety steps announced by the authorities so they do not “undo the good work of the frontline heroes”.
Mohammed Al Hasan Khan, an imam at a Dubai mosque, reminded the public to count their blessings of being able to offer the Eid prayers in a congregation, despite the viral outbreak.
“Eid prayers will be held once again in congregations in musallahs and mosques after a gap of over 700 days. We should thank Allah for restoring this blessing upon us and extend our regards to the government and the authorities, who have been working day and night to make this possible. Now, it’s our responsibility to ensure that we respectfully abide by the standard operating procedures, stay safe and take care of others’ safety, and have a joyous and blessed Eid,” he said.
