Tourists who arrived in Dubai on their birthdays on Saturday were in for a special treat. They got to experience the famed Dubai hospitality from none other than the city's cops.
Police representatives first received and welcomed the lucky tourists at their plane's doors. Then they escorted the visitors to passport control, easing their travel formalities. Not just that, after they collected their baggage, the police dropped them to their place of stay in a patrol car.
Posting photos of a couple of tourists - who could be seen sporting big smiles - the Dubai Police tweeted on Saturday: "The Dubai Police surprised visitors whose birth dates are the same as their date of arrival at the airport. We got their travel procedures done quickly and introduced them to our new identity."
The gesture is part of the police's efforts to raise awareness about their new corporate identity that was unveiled on Thursday.
The police also distributed new identity brochures and special gifts among residents in La Mer on Saturday. The launch event also saw a music band and military performances.

"The new emblem was designed to reflect the values and principles of the Dubai Police. The branches form a circle that surround the boat with calm waves - this represents the safety and security surrounding the community and the high values that the Dubai Police are always striving to achieve. We have changed the 'conflicting waves' in the old emblem to 'calm waves' to reflect a safe environment filled with happiness. We simplified the boat and the sail in the emblem for more clarity," said Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police.
