The Dubai Court of Appeal has upheld a 3-year jail sentence and deportation for an Asian man accused of raping and assaulting a teenage boy in his car while being drunk, according to a report in Emarat Al Youm.
The victim told the court that he was walking towards the International City around 10pm, when suddenly the accused stopped his car, asking for him and telling him to get into his vehicle. Once he was seated inside, the Asian man assaulted and threatened him. He drove the car to a secluded area, and raped the teen inside it, the report added.
After committing the act, the victim said the man left him at the place where he had lifted him from. He gave him his phone number on a piece of paper and told him to call him if he needed anything, the teenager said, adding the man asked him to clean the car and paid him Dh20 before leaving.
When the victim told his cousin about the incident, he called the police and gave them the details. The police nabbed the accused in no time and launched a probe.
The medical report confirmed that the victim was raped. A number of evidences were found in the car that gave credence to the teenager's version.
The case was referred to the Dubai Criminal Court which sentenced him to 3 years' imprisonment followed by deportation. The accused appealed the verdict. However, the court of appeal upheld the criminal court's decision, and increased his jail sentence by another month for consuming alcohol.
