A new documentary series showcasing the UAE's diverse flora and fauna - and what steps can be taken to preserve the country's natural heritage - will be aired soon over the National Geographic Abu Dhabi channel.
Titled 'Explore Your Environment', the five-part documentary series will take viewers on a journey across various protected areas within Abu Dhabi. It will feature around 400 plant species and the migrating birds, which pass through the emirate every year.
According to National Geographic Abu Dhabi and the Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), the UAE's marine habitats are also home to the world's densest population of dugongs, as well as the endangered Hawksbill and Green Turtles, four globally threatened species of shark, three threatened species of ray and around 240 species of fish.
The documentary is narrated by Emirati explorer and conservationist Fahood Taymour. He visited well-known tourist sites, including Jebel Hafeet National Park, Bu Tinah Island, Al Wathba Wetland Reserve and Al Ghada Protected Area.
While shedding light on the EAD's mission to protect and conserve the environment, Taymour will also raise awareness on global environmental issues from wildlife erosion to ocean pollution and climate change.
