The Abu Dhabi Municipality is to build community and recreation facilities including children's play grounds, public parks and walkways in 99 locations across the emirate at a cost of Dh300 million.
The Acting Director General of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality, Musabah Mubarak Al Marer, revealed that the Municipality obtained approved comprehensive plan for the construction and development of the community facilities.
He revealed the details during the "Forum for Goodness" which was organised by the municipality under the slogan "Hand in hand to build our city".
The event was attended by representatives from several private sector institutions that donated gave out donations for the construction of public parks and playgrounds for workers.
Two of the park gardens will be opened up in the Al Samha area.
Some companies in the private sector have established a walkway in Taweelah, a park in Al Wathba and recreational playgrounds for workers in the industrial city of Mussaffah.
"The Abu Dhabi Municipality believes in the importance of contributing to the sustainability of our society in the long term and is focused on the protection of the environment, health and safety standards," said Al Marer.
He added that the municipality emphasises the issue of corporate social responsibility to promote services and well being of communities.
Big real estate developers in Abu Dhabi said earlier this year that they had raised over Dh300 million for building mosques, public parks and sports facilities in Abu Dhabi as part of the Year of Giving.
At a ceremony held on the second day of Cityscape Abu Dhabi in April, the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) signed a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the top developers that officially launched its 'CSR Year of Giving Initiative'.
Under the agreement, the UPC had to work with private sector companies to establish new community amenities such as mosques, public parks, walkways, playgrounds and sports facilities throughout Abu Dhabi, as well as honour UAE's Martyrs.
The UPC officials said during the event that they had received contributions of Dh323.2 million from nine developers just two months after they introduced to them the initiative of giving back to the community-the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Under the agreement, the companies targeted areas of Abu Dhabi that currently lack community facilities, as well as launch fundraising events to support the provision for them.
