Sharjah authorities have ramped up patrolling operations in the desert and tightened security measures as temperatures start dropping and the peak season for dune adventures approaches, police have said.
To ensure safety across the desert areas of Sharjah, police have set up a mobile operations room and bolstered security presence, aiming to monitor activities and ensure that no dangerous stunts are being done in the dunes and neighbouring areas.
They are particularly keeping an eye out to catch reckless dune-bashing and quad-biking around undesignated areas in Al Badair and Al Faya. Speaking to Khaleej times, Brigadier Mohammad Rashid Bayat, director-general of police operations, said: "These violations and negative behaviour lead to many accidents and create inconvenience for families and tourists who come to these areas."
Police patrols have also been tasked to prevent the noise and disturbances caused by modified engines and curb activities that may damage the environment.
Brig Bayat urged all residents and visitors to abide by rules and regulations as they enjoy the beautiful desert landscape. Should they encounter any violation or behaviour that threatens their safety, they are encouraged to report them to authorities.
SAFETY GUIDE & PENALTY REMINDERS

2-No littering, please
Inspectors have intensified operations targetting littering and grilling in unauthorised areas, a top official at Sharjah Municipality said.
