Schools in Dubai are conducting spring camps for their students - and some for free -and pupils are signing up for edutainment purposes en masse.
Institutions are running several fun educational camps, either online or onsite in a bid to ensure that pupils are active every weekday morning. Pupils are lapping up the fun-filled activities ranging from creative workshops and games to dancing and accessory making.
The institutions have rolled out many of these activities for free owing to the financial challenges that parents are facing because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Deepika Thapar Singh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Principal, Credence High School, said, “The SUPER SPRING 2021 comprises six different skill-building workshops, which is being conducted by the teachers to engage with pupils actively during this spring break. It is held virtually between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm. The camp is free for all pupils right from Pre-Kindergarten (KG) to Grade 8. We’re glad that a large number of pupils have actively participated in the ongoing camp.”
She added, “We understand a parent's struggle during these challenging times of Covid-19 pandemic, which has engulfed the world for more than a year now. Through such activities, we’re doing our bit to bring in comfort for our stakeholders in every possible way as we can.”
The Covid-19 outbreak has threatened to limit the holiday activities for pupils, but they have also learned to be constructively engaged even within the stipulated restrictions.
Mohammad Ali Kottakkulam, Principal, Gulf Indian High School Dubai, said, “There are umpteen activities scheduled during this Spring Break, aiming both at the wellbeing of pupils and providing food for their inquisitive minds. Besides, the mindfulness activities and orientations, the highlights are ADNOC Stem Challenge, DEWA Robotics Workshop, and EXPO-School Programs. Our pupils have bagged a lot of certificates at the former and are busily engaged with the latter two. Around 400 pupils from varying grades are actively involved in these activities.”
Taaleem is also in partnership with the Dubai Performing Arts (DPA) and is organising Spring Break Camps at reasonable prices. These sessions are being held at Dubai British School Jumeirah Park.
In many other schools across Dubai, daily schedules are tailored to each camper, enabling pupils to experience a balance between academics and sports with several new activities on offer.
James Bowring, Commercial & Operations Director, ESM, said, “GEMS Education partners with ESM to deliver a variety of multi-activity holiday camps at their schools, during the Spring Break. We are running eight ESM Holiday Camps at GEMS schools across Dubai from 28 March to April 8. The camps are for pupils aged four and 12 years old. The camps offer a happy blend of games and sports including football, badminton, basketball, martial arts, gymnastics, etc. At last count, 405 campers have registered.”
