The Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanour Court has acquitted a GCC national and his three sons of assault and insult charges.
As per the indictment sheet, the sons allegedly beat their father, used abusive words, assaulted his second wife and insulted her.
The father was facing charges of swearing at his sons, daughter and first wife, and also assaulting two sons.
Court records show that the case unfolded when the father refused to let his first wife and children move to his new house where he had his second wife.
The children insisted that it was the 'right' of their mother to move to the new house.
The father, to drop that right, has allegedly divorced his first wife. The sons threatened to kick their father out of his new house, while the first and second sons threatened to stop the second wife from living in the new space. The second and third sons threatened the new wife over the phone. The second wife told the court that the first son assaulted his father, while the second son swore at him and her.
All litigants denied the charges in the court where the chief judge proposed amicable settlement. The sons agreed saying that "he is still our father and there is no problem to end this litigation in a peaceful way in the Year of Tolerance".
However, the father refused and told the court that he was shocked to be disgraced and beaten up by his own kids.
"I brought them up and fed them but got 'rewarded' with this insult and assault. I can never insult them because I will be insulting myself," he said.
People present at the court tried to end the litigation peacefully, but the father refused any such settlement altogether.
The court first ordered adjournment of the case advising the sons to try to amicably find solution to the litigation, and finally cleared all litigants involved of the insult and assault charges.
