The Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority has fitted plastic isolators in their cab fleet to separate drivers from the passengers and ensure public safety.
The move is part of the authority's tireless efforts to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection and transmission, Eng Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, General Manager, RAK Transport Authority, said.
"The new isolators provide more protection for both our drivers and passengers and curb any chance of mingling or contraction of contagious diseases."
No passenger is allowed on the front seat next to the driver, he underlined.
"We have started this front seat ban since the very beginning of the Covid-19 outbreak."
All cabs here are sterilised after each and every taxi trip, Al Blooshi stated.
"All staff drivers wear facemasks and gloves, and use hand sanitizers on a regular basis for more protection."
RAK Transport Authority has also started home delivering medicine to patients of Saqr hospital across the emirate.
"The move has been initiated in collaboration with the RAK Medical Zone and Saqr Hospital."
Medicines shall be delivered on a daily basis from 1pm to 9pm, he elaborated.
"The pioneering drive will ease the suffering of the hospital patients and bring them happiness."
It will also reduce the pressure on the medical cadre of the hospital and protect them against the risk of mingling with patients, Al Blooshi pointed out.
"The move is also a very effective way to deliver the medicine to the patients via a trusted and safe transport service."
