An European family comprising a father and his two sons was arrested in Dubai after police received 95 complaints about them having written bad cheques worth of Dh19.26 million.
According to Al Bayan daily, quoting Brigadier Ahmed Thani bin Ghalaita, director of Al Rafaa police station, the authorities were able to trace these cases back to the complainants and they then discovered that there were 95 reports and 3 circulars issued for these three people on record. They were all working in a commercial store.
After due investigations it was seen that 49 reports were submitted against the father. A UAE court had sentenced him to a year and 3 months imprisonment but he was hiding from the police. It was also seen that the older son had as many as 44 reports filed against him, and he had also been sentenced by a court to 4 years and 2 months to prison. Only 2 reports were filed against the younger son.
They had all been engaged in writing the bad cheques for commercial deals and attempting to hoodwink the other concerned parties.
The arrests were made after police received information that revealed the address of the 3 of them at a residence in Al Barsha. After monitoring their accommodation for 15 days where it was seen that none of them were leaving the premises except for the wife, who was spotted going for groceries on a regular basis.
After confirming through their sources and through surveillance that the men were in the house the police made their move and caught all three.
