An Arab woman, who is accused of not paying the rent for luxury SUVs she took from car rental firms in Ras Al Khaimah, claimed she just wanted to try the cars for a few days as she was crazy about modern cars.
Facility: Rent a vehicle by the hour model launched in Dubai
The woman stood trial at the Ras Al Khaimah Misdemeanour Court on Tuesday.
As per court records, the case dates back to August this year when the managers of four car rental firms in RAK city lodged complaints against the defendant.
They told the police that the suspect rented the cars for different periods. However, she didn't either return the cars or pay the rent.
Beware: Jail, Dh20,000 fine for tampering with car number plates
The RAK Police summoned the woman, who admitted to her crime, but claimed she just wanted to try the cars for some days and give them back.
The woman was referred to the RAK Public Prosecution for breaking the agreements she earlier signed with the car rental agencies, and failing to return the cars and pay the rent.
The case was then moved to the RAK Misdemeanour Court, which turned down the defendant's claims.

The suspect was found guilty, but the court gave her a grace period of one month to pay the due rent, or she will face a jail term and a hefty fine.
As per the agreement, the owner let the hirer take the vehicle for a specific term, and the vehicle should have been driven only by the persons named on the rental document.
Last month, the RAK Misdemeanour Court ordered a young Arab to serve three months in jail for failing to pay the rent of a luxury car.
The accused rented the SUV car from a car rental agency in Ras Al Khaimah city for two months. He was supposed to pay Dh60,000 against the four-wheel-drive, but he just left the car parked in front of the rent-a-car agency, and disappeared.
