A businessman was sentenced to three months in jail followed by deportation for threatening to kill a trader and dispose of his body outside a police station.
According to prosecution records, he was threatening and blackmailing the Saudi trader to drop his complaint against him and stop claiming his money back. The incident was reported on January 13 to Al Qusais police station.
The complainant told the prosecutor that he struck business deals with several people, who he realised later were no more than thugs. "They were all conspiring together and had all a part to do in fraud and deceit," the trader said.
He added that the mastermind was the defendant, together with a Jordanian man.
The accused was detained at Al Rashidiyah police centre following a criminal complaint. He was released after he deposited his passport. "I later filed other complaints against the accused. He was detained and released twice, in October and December 2015. And since then I had been receiving threats from him," the trader added.
In December last year, and while the case was still being examined by a court, the trader was in a car showroom in Al Aweer when the accused threatened to kill him.
The man said he was scared and he hid in a safe place from where he called the police. The defendant had disappeared by the time the cops arrived. But he was arrested later.
