The mastermind of the Blue Whale online 'suicide game' has been arrested by police in Russia.
According to the Telegraph and the Daily Mail, Ilya Sidorov, 26, broke down under interrogation when he was asked how he instructed a schoolgirl to jump underneath a train. He also admitted to developing an elaborate online game which involved 50 tasks - the last task involves asking teenagers to kill themselves.
Sidorov, a postman, was held on a rooftop in Moscow before being taken to a police station.
The Blue Whale suicide game is an online 'game' targeting teenagers and youth. Allegedly originating from Russia, the game involves a set of daring challenges over the course of 50 days. The last challenge is for participants to commit suicide.
Parents in Dubai have been worried of the game reaching UAE schools. But Dubai Police has since clarified that there has been no reports of such suicides in the UAE. Police and school officials however have advised parents remain attentive to such sinister trends.
