A fire broke out in a two-bedroom flat in a building in Ajman's Al Rashidiya area. All items inside the flat were gutted in the fire, but no casualties were reported.
The operations room was notified about the fire around 1.30pm. Civil defence personnel rushed to the spot and managed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby apartments. It took about three hours to douse the flames.
Major Marwan Yousef, a civil defence officer in Ajman, said all residents were evacuated from the building. He added that the firefighters reached the spot in under six minutes.
The cooling operation is currently underway and the site will be handed over to the police after that to determine its cause.
