Ajman – Students of Ajman Academy, the first International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme school here, on Tuesday contributed Dh20,000 for the earthquake affected in Nepal.
Students of grade 5 and 6 organised a charity bake sale of homemade products, the proceeds of which were all donated to the UAE Red Crescent Authority in Ajman for the relief the Nepalese people.
The students have managed to collect Dh8,000 from a charity sale on homemade bakery products along with Dh12,000 they collected from other charity functions, Anthony Cashin, the school director told Khaleej Times on Tuesday.
“The move, part of an initiative themed: ‘Our planet, our responsibility’, is meant to promote students’ compassion with people in need for help as always directed by the UAE prudent leadership.”
The students contributed the Dh20,000 cheque in the presence of Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Tourism Development Department who was attending the Academy's 3rd commencement of the Grade-6 and KG-2 students for the year 2015.
The event, held under the patronage of and in the presence of Shaikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, representative of HH the Ruler of Ajman for administrative and Financial Affairs, witnessed a large number of officials, dignitaries and parents.
Both Shaikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi and Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi handed over the graduation certificates to the young graduates of the Academy, along with gifts to acknowledge their success.
Cashin said the prudent leadership in the emirate of Ajman spares no effort to boost the procession of education of the UAE citizens. “Those young students will be part of the emirate promising future and national development.”
Paying tributes to the parents for supporting their children, Cashin added that Ajman Academy pursues excellence in all areas of our students’ education. “We combine the ethos held by the very best global independent schools in the world with the provision of a world-class international curriculum.”
The school is fully equipped with the latest education tools and techniques, he added. “The students’ outstanding performance would not have been possible without the fruitful cooperation between the school and parents.”
