Al Ain will see the biggest ever mass wedding with 530 Emirati men and women tying the nuptial knot at Al Ain Center for conferences and celebrations on November 25.
It will coincide with the 'Year of Giving' and be part of the country's 46th National Day celebrations.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rakadh Al Amiri, member of the Consultative Council of Abu Dhabi and former chairman of Marriage Fund Committee, said that the initiative aims at facilitating marriage for the youths and support them in reducing the wedding expenses, while doing away with lavishness in such ceremonies.
"Holding the mass wedding comes in pursuance of the good and righteous approach laid down by founding father the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan," said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rakadh. He pointed out that the late Sheikh Zayed had assigned him the job of organizing and holding the first mass wedding in Al Ain in 1999.
Meanwhile, Dhiab Mohammed bin Rakadh, chairman of the organizing committee, said registration for the social gathering is still open, and the number of nominees for the mass marriage is likely to go up.
Would-be grooms, who got their names registered for the event, expressed their happiness over participating in the mass wedding.
