All traffic fines registered on the roads of the emirate will be discounted by 50 per cent to mark World Happiness Day, the UAQ Police announced on Tuesday (March 19).
The discount, effective from March 20 to May 4, applies to all the vehicles fined on UAQ roads, regardless of where the cars are registered, according to a senior police officer.
Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, director of the department of traffic and patrols department of the UAQ Police, said the 46-day discount is only applicable to fines registered before March 19.
Drivers can pay the discounted fines via police websites, as well as the ministry of interior's online portal and smart apps, he said.
However, traffic violations that involved car impoundment, is not covered by the initiative. In such cases, the driver needs to go to the traffic and patrol department, Col Bin Aran said.
