A man was charged at a Dubai court after he allegedly molested a 15-year-old schoolgirl during private tuition.
According to the public prosecution records, the suspect, a 40-year-old Bangladeshi worker, molested the Indian girl five times at her house in Al Muraqqabat.
He denied the charge at the Court of First Instance.
Prosecutors referred him to court on a molestation charge, while recommending he got a stiff penalty according to the law.
The student said that the suspect had been teaching her Quran verses at her house four times a week since three months.
She recounted to the investigator that at 10pm on June 17, he grabbed her cheek and kissed her.
"He kissed me on my cheek saying that he was more like a friend than a father and that he is a young man. I felt scared and stepped away from him. He then said he was sorry and requested that I would not tell anybody about it."
However, right after he left, she told her parents. She then revealed that her private tutor had behaved similarly five times on five different occasions.
The worker admitted to the charge during the police interrogation and the public prosecution investigation. He confessed he touched the girl inappropriately and kissed her.
He remains in detention. A court ruling will be heard on August 12.
