Four police stations in Dubai will go 'smart' from March 20, it was announced on Wednesday, March 18. This means in-person services will be suspended at the Bur Dubai, Al Raffaa, Naif and Al Rashidiya police stations.
Residents can avail of the police's services via 'smart corners' available at these police stations.
Physical services will continue to be available at Al Qusais, Ports, Al Barsha and Jebel Ali police stations "until the end of Expo 2020", the police said.
Dr Major-General Abdulquddos Abdulrazzaq Al Obaidly, assistant to the commander-in-chief of the police for excellence and pioneering affairs, said the move is inspired the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He had called on government entities to work towards reducing the number of customers visiting government service centres by 80 per cent by providing smart and innovative services.
The police are working towards bringing the number of visitors to police stations to zero, he added.
"Residents can perform transactions easily through the force's smart channels including the Dubai Police smart app, official website, and the Smart Police Stations (SPS) located across the emirate," Maj-Gen Al Obaidly said.
