A vehicle speeding against the direction of traffic on a UAE highway crashed head-on into another, resulting in three deaths. Two of the deceased were Emirati youths, while the third was from Comoros Island.
Drivers of both the cars and one passenger in the front seat were killed in the crash that was reported around 1.30am on Sunday.
Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, director of traffic and patrols department of the UAQ Police, said: "The collision took place on the Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road between Exits 113 and 116."
The Comoros Island resident - the driver of the first car - sped against the direction of the traffic and rammed into the other car that was going from the Dubai direction towards Ras Al Khaimah.
"The driver of the second car and the passenger next to him - both Emirati youths in their twenties - sustained critical injuries and died on the spot."
The bodies have been shifted to morgue.
