Three Dubai Metro stations on the Red Line - Dubai Internet City, Damac Properties and UAE Exchange - will soon be upgraded, as part of the Roads and Transport Authority's five-year improvement plan.
With projects mapped out until 2025, the plan will see the development of a total of 40 Metro and marine transport stations. Riders can expect better connectivity between stations and urban attractions, as well as an enhanced mobility experience for pedestrians, cyclists and people of determination, said Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.
A contract to implement the first Metro upgrades has been awarded in a recent session chaired by Al Tayer.
"Improvements of the first three stations include adding a new western entry to Dubai Internet City station and improving the link between Damac Metro Station and Dubai Marina Tram Station to handle the rising number of riders during morning and evening peak times. An eastern entry will be added to the UAE Exchange station to enhance the accessibility to the station," he explained.
Pedestrian crossings, shaded areas, and cycling tracks will also be built around the stations, he added.
Landscaping will be done, along with smart initiatives and other features that would address the needs of cabs and people of determination.

"(The RTA's comprehensive plan) also encompasses improving the infrastructure around five other stations (Al Rashidiya, GGICO, Al Qiyada, Noor Bank and Financial Centre Station) and two marine transport stations (Dubai Water Canal, Sheikh Zayed Road)," Al Tayer said.
