A 25-year-old Emirati national died after the car he was driving veered off the road and flipped over several times in the northern emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
Captain Ibrahim Said Al Mazrouie, manager of traffic and patrols branch at the Daqdaqa police station, on Monday said the victim, who was alone in his car, lost control over the steering wheel, and it turned over.
The central operations room of the RAK Police was alerted about the accident around 9.25pm on Sunday. A traffic patrol, an ambulance, paramedics and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site.
The victim, identified only as RS, sustained grave injuries and bled excessively, he added. "He was rushed to the hospital for treatment and medical care, but was declared dead on Monday morning."
The deceased's body was shifted to the morgue of the hospital, he said. "The accident file was referred to the bodies concerned for legal action."
Col Mazrouie urged all drivers to take extra caution during evening and late night considering poor visibility during those hours.
"All motorists must be fully attentive on the road to avoid casualties and financial damages."
Recently, a 34-year-old Emirati national was killed after a speeding car driven by another 19-year-old Emirati ran over him on a road at Al Rams area.
"Speeding and inattentive driving are reportedly behind most deadly accidents in Ras Al Khaimah."
