Twentyfive-year-old Mohammed Shammon Khan was found guilty of possessing hashish after the police arrested him red-handed in a trap set to catch him by an undercover agent in Al Ain.
The convict was trying to sell one kilogram of hashish for Dh7,000.
According to the anti-narcotics agencies, the convict concealed the hashish in a mosque.
Khan confessed during police investigations to have attempted to sell the hashish and that his brother brought him the hashish from Pakistan.
The Abu Dhabi Criminal Shariah Court earlier indicted Khan and sentenced him to 15-year imprisonment. The lower court also fined the convict Dh100,000 for drug possession and trading.
The authorities concerned confiscated the hashish and destroyed the whole quantity.
Khan appealed against the ruling. However, the Court of Appeal endorsed the lower court’s decision.
