Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, Director-General of the Traffic Coordination General Directorate at the UAE Ministry of Interior, met Lieutenant Shaikh Nader bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, from the Bahraini General Directorate of Traffic Services and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, both parties discussed a number of topics of mutual interest and ways to enhance cooperation and the coordination of traffic issues between the UAE and Bahrain Ministries of Interior.
The meeting was attended by Colonel Nasser Ahmad Al Hosani, Chief of the Federal Traffic Section and Lt. Colonel Ali Saeed Al Shehhi, Chief of the Strategy and Performance Development Section at the Traffic Coordination Directorate General of the Ministry of Interior.
The Bahraini delegation reviewed the substantial progress in the traffic safety systems achieved by Abu Dhabi Police, as well as the use of smart traffic systems, the development of traffic work and performance levels, as benchmarked to the best international standards.
Brigadier Khamis Ishaq Mohammed, Director of the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, welcomed the Bahraini delegation and confirmed the strength of the ties between the GCC traffic departments and the ADP's commitment to promoting cooperation. He also stressed the importance of exchanging visits to benefit from their respective experience in the field of smart traffic systems, as well as the services offered through the Customer Service Centre that are designed to save time and effort for customers.
Smart Cities
Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Badr Ahmed Al Harithi, Head of the Traffic and Road Safety Engineering, detailed projects to the delegation that support future solutions for building smart cities. These included the technical solutions used in traffic safety that aim to eliminate traffic problems and jams, and reduce road traffic accidents by providing advanced methods to manage traffic.
During its visit to the Smart Traffic Systems Centre, the delegation also reviewed different systems, such as the "Smart Towers" system, which alerts drivers on motorways through changing electronic messages, the system for catching red light jumpers, and a number of vital projects implemented by the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate.
