The new service is aimed at offering owners of Abu Dhabi-registered vehicles convenient solutions that save their time and effort.
The ‘Mobile Fee Payment’ is an innovative service that allows motorists to pay their parking fees through their Etisalat or du mobile telephone numbers by sending an SMS to 3009 in the following format: ‘Vehicle Plate Colour and Category space Plate Number space Parking type (Premium or Standard) space Duration in hours,” as in the following example: “Red10 1234 P or S 3’.
Initially the service would be available only for postpaid customers. Once the message is sent, the user will get an SMS with a parking e-ticket number, highlighting the expiry date and time.
The applicable parking fee will be directly debited from the motorist’s mobile credit. Only Abu Dhabi-registered vehicles can use the service without prior registration.
Vehicles registered in other emirates and interested in mobile fee payment must create an ‘m-Mawaqif’ account.
For more information regarding ‘m-Mawaqif’ motorists should visit www.mpark.mawaqif.ae.
The DoT introduced Mawaqif in October 2009 to manage the parking issues across the congested parts of Abu Dhabi.
