An Emirati man was severely injured after his vehicle rammed into a pick-up vehicle stooped in the middle of the busy Emirates Road.
According to an Arabic daily, driver of the pick-up stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road after a minor accident with another vehicle. However, the second vehicle involved in the minor accident was parked safely outside the road by its driver.
The Emirati, who was driving his car, didn't notice the vehicle stopped on the road and crashed into it, causing him severe injuries. He was rushed to a hospital.
Another similar accident happened the same day on Mohamed Bin Zayed road, when a motorist hit a bus that stopped on the second lane from the left side of the road.
Brigadier Saif Mahir Al Mazrouei, Director-General of the Dubai Police Traffic Department, said that stopping the vehicle in the middle of the road is a serious violation and those who do such mistakes will have to take full responsibility for their actions.
"Many people die or get injured because of such violations despite the great efforts from the Dubai Police to raise motorists' awareness about the danger of leaving their vehicles on the road," he added.
Al Mazrouei called on all motorists never to leave vehicles on the main road, adding that in case the motorist is unable to move the vehicle, he must call the police so that the patrols can secure the area and avoid accidents.
