Al Mazeina said the Dubai Police would exert efforts to achieve the goal to reduce deaths to 0 by the year 2020 through intensifying police patrols in areas that witness high traffic accidents. The police would also analyse the cause of accidents to find a solution and reduce deaths, in addition to organising traffic awareness campaigns. Al Mazeina reviewed the distribution of radars along main roads and their role in reducing speed, as well as mechanisms of recording traffic violations.
He instructed the police to undertake maintenance of the mechanisms, monitor speed radars and instal them on all roads that have witnessed violations and a high rate of deaths according to indicators and statistics.
The Dubai investigative team has seized 67 vehicles, issued circulars to catch drivers of 198 vehicles and made 157 drivers write letters undertaking that they will stop committing violations. The number of wanted cars in Dubai reached 746 this year.
According to statistics, Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road topped the list of the most five dangerous roads in Dubai recording 22 deaths followed by Emirates Road, which witnessed 13 deaths, Shaikh Zayed Road with 11 deaths, Al Wasl Road with four deaths and Husa Road and Al Khail Road, with three deaths each.
