The Dh312-million facility with a capacity to park 424 cars in two floors spreads over an area of 8800 square metres. It contains all the modern facilities including car bays for people with special needs, car parks management, surveillance cameras, ventilation and early fire alarm systems.
The project will be handed over to the Department of Transport, which is the final operator for serving the project.
“The underground multi-storey car park will ease and regularise the vehicular traffic in the market’s area as well as solving the problem of traffic bottlenecks,” said Rashid Al Niadi, the project manager.
The new facility will serve the residents of the vicinity on one hand and the visitors of the trade stores since the project is set up on a huge area behind Al Ain Cooperative Society. He said: “A garden has been set up on the rooftop of the car parks building in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council as per standards that ensure the location communication with Al Ain Oasis, which will add a pristine background landscapes of date palm trees. The Palm Park will have special places for men, women and children. Heritage and local traditional paintings featuring tourism landmarks, Al Ain Museum, Al Ain Palace and Al Mourabaa Fort will be displayed in the park.
The municipality is currently conducting a study on the position of the car parks with the competent bodies, in number of areas in the down town of the city, he said.
The study has been made in collaboration with the Internal Roads and Infrastructure Department with the aim of making out the needs of each and every area to the car parks, and work to build them as part of the forthcoming plan, he added.
