Starting today, the speed limit on the Abu Dhabi - Al Shahama main road (E10) will be 121kmph instead of 141kmph, the Safety and Traffic Solutions Committee — Abu Dhabi has announced.
The temporary decision is aimed at preserving the safety of road users and facilitate safe access to places of work.
The speed limit will apply between the start of the Abu Dhabi - Al Shahama main road (E10) at Al Shahama area and the Shaikh Zayed Bridge in both directions. The radar cameras adjustment to the new limit will remain until the project is finalised, the committee said, and is due to works expanding the road on both sides.
Khalid Rashid Al Suwaidi, Surface Transport Advisor and Acting General Director at the Department of Transport, commented that Abu Dhabi - Shahama road works have led to reducing the number of lanes from four to three, which necessitated temporary speed limit reduction on the road.
Al Suwaidi explained that such decisions are taken after conducting a detailed technical study using a comprehensive approach that aims to provide solutions. He said the committee is always working to ensure the implementation of decisions that serve the public.
The Safety and Traffic Solutions Committee in Abu Dhabi has urged drivers to abide by the new speed limit in order to avoid fines and to raise the level of safety on the roads.
