According to a senior officer, the motorists were fined for violating the rules set by the Ministry of Interior for decorating vehicles. “All motorists were asked not to change the original colour of the vehicle, never to blackout or colour the front windshield,” said Col Abdullah Mankhas, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department, RAK Police.
He said all motorists were also warned against disfiguring or manipulating number plates, using noisy car parts, using party spray, getting out of the car on the main roads or parking on internal roads, highways, as well as public buses and taxi parking areas.
“Twenty vehicles were impounded for reckless driving, risking road users’ safety and fully colouring the vehicle glass and windows,” Col Mankhas said.
“Some roads, unfortunately, were crowded because of some motorists’ failure to observe the set instructions, let alone the hordes of vehicles flocking to the emirate from other emirates,” he added.
