Samsung Gulf Electronics on Sunday said its latest flagship devices Galaxy S21 series are now available at brand stores and across major retail outlets in the UAE.
The South Korean smartphone manufacturer said it received a tremendous response to its 5G-enablled Galaxy S21, S21+ and S21 Ultra smartphones since the new series was launched in January.
“Consumers’ response to the Galaxy S21 series has been resounding and pre-orders in recent weeks saw a 56 per cent increase in the UAE in comparison to Galaxy S20 series in 2020,” Osman Albora, senior director for mobile division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, told Khaleej Times on Sunday.
He said the next-generation devices are now available for outright purchase following the successful pre-order phase and can be acquired in brand stores and across major retail outlets.
“The Galaxy S21 Series 5G has finally arrived, and we are excited that the wait among Samsung enthusiasts to buy our latest devices is over,” Albora said.
The S21 and S21+ come with 6.2- and 6.7-inch displays, respectively, which feature Samsung's edge-to-edge Amoled 2X screen and a 120Hz refresh rate. Their cameras are comprised of wide and ultra-wide lenses at 12MP and a telephoto lens at 64MP. Its Zoom Lock promises steady shots even at 30x zoom.
The Galaxy S21 and S21+ in 128GB and 256GB storage options, both with 8GB RAM, while the Galaxy S21 Ultra will have 12GB/128GB, 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB variants. Prices start at Dh3,199, Dh3,799 and Dh4,899, respectively.
“Customers have been waiting eagerly to experience the latest Galaxy devices. The overwhelming success of the pre-order phase was a testament to consumers’ confidence in both the devices and Samsung as a brand," Albora said.
"Over the past weeks we saw a 56 per cent increase in pre-orders in the UAE in comparison to Galaxy S20 Series in 2020, with most opting to go for the premium Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, which made up 65 per cent,” Albora said.
In a statement, Samsung said its market share for 5G compatible smartphones in the UAE reached 45.2 per cent at the end of 2020 while its market share for smartphones in the UAE was 39.2 per cent at the end of 2020.
“At the Galaxy Unpacked 2021, we introduced the most powerful and versatile Galaxy experience yet. Early feedback from carriers and partners was fantastic, with many stating they are excited about the bold new design, advanced pro-grade camera, seamlessly integrated ecosystem experience and best-ever performance, at a great value,” Albora said.
“During this challenging time, our consumers need the latest digital innovations more than ever before. And, we feel confident that the Galaxy S21 series and its ecosystem devices such as Galaxy Buds Pro and Galaxy SmartTag will continue to drive category growth this year,” he added.
