Huawei on Monday pledged to ensure the security of its devices that run on Google's Android software in the aftermath of a report that the Alphabet-owned company has halted some business with the Chinese firm.
In a statement to Khaleej Times in reaction to the Reuters report, Huawei also touted its partnership with Google, whose mobile operating system is used on Huawei's devices, including the flagship Mate and P series, plus the mid-range Honor line, which are among the top-selling devices globally.
"Huawei has made substantial contributions to the development and growth of Android around the world. As one of Android's key partners, we have worked closely with their open-source platform to develop an ecosystem that has benefitted both users and the industry," it said.
"Huawei will continue to provide security updates and after-sales services to all existing Huawei and Honor smartphone and tablet products covering those that have been sold or are still in stock globally," Huawei added.
"We will continue to build a safe and sustainable software ecosystem in order to provide the best experience for all users globally."
Khaleej Times has reached out to Huawei Middle East for further comment on the matter.
